I. PRIVACY POLICY

At The Writing Company (TWC), we respect and are committed to protecting your privacy.

What information do we collect?

We collect information from you when you fill out a form or subscribe to the Content Library. We collect the information we need to do business with you effectively; inform you of news you might like to know; and understand how you are using our services.

The information we collect will include your name and email address; it may also include your company name and website address.

Content Library (Library) members: During Library sign-up, we will also collect your username, password and:

  • Your billing address and phone number. This information is used to confirm your credit card. The billing address and phone number are saved by our site so we can get in touch with you if needed to discuss your order.
  • Your credit card number, expiration date, and security code. This information is captured by our payment gateway to process your purchase. The last 4 digits of your credit card number and the expiration date are saved by our site so we can get in touch with you if needed to discuss your order.

This information is used to set up your Library account and to verify that you are qualified to use the Library content as described in our Library terms and conditions. While you are logged into the Library, we use cookies and potentially other coding to track some of your activity on our site including logins, visits, page views and downloads you’ve made.

TWC may periodically communicate with you to notify you when new materials are added to our Library; to share other relevant information about TWC; and to periodically offer related insights and commentary we think you’ll find of interest. In our MailChimp database, we may store your name, company name, email address, client status, communication preferences and general information.

We will treat your information with respect. If you are a TWC client–either as a Library subscriber or custom-writing client–we will add your contact information to our MailChimp distribution list as part of our legitimate interest in communicating with you in the course of our business relationship.

You can opt in or opt out of receiving notices from us at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any communication you receive from us via MailChimp, or by contacting us at contentlibrary@thewritingcompany.com. Note: If you are a paid Content Library subscriber with an active membership, we recommend against opting out of Content Library notifications if you want to continue to receive notices when we add new material to the Library.

What do we use your information for?

The information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

  • To personalize your experience
  • To improve our website
  • To improve customer service
  • To process transactions
  • To send periodic emails providing information and updates about Library membership or interest in the Library, company news and occasional industry-related commentary we think you’ll find of interest.

Your public or private information will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company without your consent, with the following exceptions:

  • Third parties who assist us in operating our website or conducting our business, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. On an as-needed basis, we may share information for the express purpose of delivering a product or service purchased or explicitly requested.
  • We may share information if we believe release is required to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety.
  • Non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

How do we protect your information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order or enter, submit, or access your personal information.

We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our Payment gateway provider’s database, only accessible by those authorized and required to keep the information confidential.

In accordance with GDPR regulations, we would be happy to send you the personal data we have on file for you and/or delete your personal data at your request.

If you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we also include an option at the bottom of each email.

If we or you delete your personal data and you are a current Library member, you will no longer have access to the Library; you will not be automatically entitled to a refund on license fees already paid.
