Privacy Policy & Terms and Conditions

I. PRIVACY POLICY

At Wendy J. Cook Communications, LLC (WJCC), we respect and are committed to protecting your privacy. When you visit our website, we want to ensure that you get the information, content, and experiences that matter most to you.

What information do we collect?

In general: We collect information from you when you register on our site, place an order, subscribe to our e-newsletter or fill out a form. Beyond that, we’re not keen on tracking your every move. It isn’t necessary for our purposes or yours, so why do it? For example, to simplify our GDPR compliance, we removed Google Analytics tracking code from our website on May 27, 2018. It was interesting, but inessential data, so we eliminated it entirely.

If you do express direct interest in receiving news from us, or  you become a client, we collect the information we need to effectively do business with you; inform you of news you might like to know; and understand how you are using our services, so we can make informed updates to our offerings as time and demand warrants. The information we collect will include your name and email address; it may also include your company name, physical address and website address.

What do we mean by “direct interest”? It means you’ve filled out our e-newsletter sign-up form on our website and confirmed the resulting double-opt-in e-mail you’ve received as a result; explicitly opting into our e-newsletter on various public forms; and/or specifically requesting or agreeing that you’d like to be added to our e-newsletter list via e-mail, one-on-one social media exchanges, or verbal conversation.

Content-Sharing Library (Library) members: During Library sign-up, we will collect your name, email address, username, and password (and, optionally, your company name and website address). This information is used to set up your Library account and to verify that you are qualified to use the Library content as described in our Library terms and conditions. You may, however, visit the rest of our site anonymously.

At Library checkout, we also collect:

  • Your billing address and phone number. This information is used to confirm your credit card. The billing address and phone number are saved by our site so we can get in touch with you if needed to discuss your order.
  • Your credit card number, expiration date, and security code. This information is passed to our payment gateway to process your purchase. The last 4 digits of your credit card number and the expiration date are saved by our site so we can get in touch with you if needed to discuss your order.

While you are logged into the Library, we use cookies and potentially other coding to track some of your activity on our site including logins, visits, page views and downloads you’ve made.

E-Newsletter subscribers (via MailChimp): WJCC may periodically communicate with you to notify you when new materials are added to our Library; to share other relevant information about WJCC benefits, programs and opportunities available to you; and to periodically offer related insights and commentary we feel you’ll find of interest. In our MailChimp database, we may store your name, company name, email address, client status, communication preferences and general information within a “comments” field.

We will treat your information with respect. If you are a WJCC client – either as a Library subscriber or custom-writing client – we will initially add your contact information to our MailChimp distribution list, as part of our legitimate interest in communicating with you in the course of our business relationship.

Whether or not you are a client, you can opt in or opt out of receiving e-newsletter and Content-Sharing Library notices at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any e-newsletter you receive from us, or by contacting Wendy J. Cook, WJCC owner and privacy manager, at wendy@wendyjcook.com. But note: If you are a paid Content-Sharing Library subscriber with an active membership, we recommend against opting out of Content-Sharing Library notifications. If you do, you’ll no longer receive notices when we add new material to the Library.

What do we use your information for?

As touched on above, any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

  • To personalize your experience
  • To improve our website
  • To improve customer service
  • To process transactions
  • To send periodic e-mails providing information and updates about your order, occasional company news, and updates, related product or service information.

Your public or private information will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company without your consent, with the following exceptions:

  • This does not include third parties who assist us in operating our website or conducting our business, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. On an as-needed basis, we may share information for the express purpose of delivering a product or service purchased or explicitly requested.
  • We may share information if we believe release is required to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety.
  • Non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

How do we protect your information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order or enter, submit, or access your personal information.

We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our Payment gateway provider’s database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.

In accordance with GDPR regulations, we would be happy to send you the personal data we have on file for you and/or delete your personal data at your request.

If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we also include detailed unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each e-mail.

However, if we or you delete your personal data and you are a current Library member, you will no longer have access to the Library; you will not be automatically entitled to a refund on license fees already paid.

Do we use cookies?

Yes. Cookies are small text files that can be used by websites to make a user’s experience more efficient. This site uses different types of cookies. Some cookies are placed by third-party services that appear on our pages.

The law states that we can store cookies on your device if they are strictly necessary for the operation of this site.
